How we inhabit, are enriched by and enjoy daily life in our neighborhoods is shaped by the quality of our public spaces.

Chattanooga Design Studio’s 2021 Summer Internship program worked collaboratively with Glass House Collective and Rossville BLVD Group to study the neighborhoods those organizations are working to promote. The summer study began with an inventory of existing neighborhood conditions including building uses, infrastructure and open space. After gaining a better understanding of the neighborhood geography the study focused on key community (existing and proposed) meeting grounds at the intersection of either important neighborhood amenities or building on previous infrastructure investments. Short term public space activation ideas are proposed which through community support and further engagement could lead to longer term interventions. The full study will be available at the link below in the coming weeks.
